A Sound Golf Swing
Having a great golf swing is all about good rotation. Throughout the swing you need to keep the club in front of your body. To do this in perfect motion, rotate the club head, hand, and chest in synchronization. Visualize an imaginary dot on the club head, on the hands and mid chest region. When you start to swing, imagine that you are following those three dots at the same rate of rotation.
Golf Tip : Snap Hook
Effectively playing the Golf slice is the most common problem for most golfers. However, it is said that a good player never indiscriminately hooks the golf ball. The snap hook is a shot that bends from right to left and in the case of a left-handed player bends from left to right. The cause of snap hooking the golf ball is a closed clubface at impact and the ball sidespins causing it to take a higher flight. Grip plays a major role in hooking because a right-handed golfer turns the left hand way to the right, with the right hand beneath the club. Unless the golfer doesn't release the club and hold on, it results in continuous hooking of the ball. The left wrist at the top of the back swing is another cause of the snap hook. The bowed left wrist significantly blocks the clubface at the top of the back swing, resulting in a hook.
Some tips that can resolve the problem of the snap hook when golfing involve the application of stance, grip and weight. Most golfers make the mistake of positioning the ball far back from their stance. It is best to place the ball a little forward or in the middle of the stance. For right-handed golfers, it is best to position the ball with the left heel or in the middle, ensure that the feet are towards the target line. If the tips of both toes are aligned evenly or towards the left of the target line, the swing is more effective in eliminating the possibility of hooking the golf ball. Always remember to keep a more open stance by keeping your feet evenly positioned; it is the best trick to reduce hooking.
When it comes to gripping, golfers set up with their right hand too much towards the left side and this causes a snap hook. So when gripping the club, make it a point to have your hands facing straight down, the "V" formation created by holding the golf club should be pointing straight up to the nose. Grip strength is another aspect that eliminates hooking the ball, so avoid holding the club too firmly. Holding it firmly leads to hooking the ball since when swinging with the right hand causes it to reverse and come around making the ball hook automatically. Reducing the strength on the grip eliminates chances of hooking tremendously.
When taking a back swing, make sure that the weight is on the left foot, the more the better. Golfers tend to hook the ball because the weight is put on the right foot, creating a closed clubface that causes the club to come around. Always be aware of where the weight is being directed and this will correct the problem of the snap hook.
