A Sound Golf Swing
Having a great golf swing is all about good rotation. Throughout the swing you need to keep the club in front of your body. To do this in perfect motion, rotate the club head, hand, and chest in synchronization. Visualize an imaginary dot on the club head, on the hands and mid chest region. When you start to swing, imagine that you are following those three dots at the same rate of rotation.
Golf Tip : Spinning The Ball
How many times have you seen Tiger Woods hit the ball, and make it spin to land at a location that you thought was almost impossible to get in a single shot? A golf ball spins whenever you hit the ball. The spin is produced due to the golf club's loft. While a ball spins on every shot, the craft that professional golfers have acquired is to spin the ball according to their will. This particularly comes with practice, and dedication, it is a long time before an amateur can make the ball spin according to his will. Spinning the ball is an important technique for any golfer to achieve a great score
Having a ball stop quickly after it hits the ground, or even make it spin backwards are important skills that help in certain difficult situations. To achieve a spin, here are a few steps that can help you achieve that perfect shot.
Ball Spinning
  • Stand with your feet closer together.
  • Position yourself in such a way that the ball is as close to your back foot, as possible.
  • A 60° wedge, also known as a flop wedge is recommended for playing such a shot. A sand wedge can be used in emergency.
  • Swing your club on steeper plan, that is, more upright.
  • You should hit directly at the bottom half of the ball.
While these are theoretical steps to achieve a swing, and would require a lot of practice before mastering the stroke, there are certain precautions that you need to take when going for a shot. You should make sure that grooves on the face of the club are clean, to achieve the desired effect. A very minor miss-hit can result in a big mistake. The shot will be most effective if the ball comes in at high trajectory. This is one of the toughest shots, and would thus require considerable amount of practice before you can master the stroke.
'Spinning a ball on full shot' is a term used when you can contact the ball in a clean manner, that is, no earth or grass blades in between. This can be achieved by superior contact and club head speed. If you are able to hit the ball cleanly, then you can expect to get a spin. Any particles, on the surface of the ball or the club can make the shot go awry.
A weak shaft can make the ball go high, and can promote the spinning of the ball. The main key to getting a good spin is to be able to hit the shot as high as possible. There are many professionals who are able to achieve tremendous swing on a low shot. This is very difficult to achieve, and it is not worthwhile for amateurs to try this, before getting a descent spin on a high hit.
Backspin is another spinning technique where you can make the ball spin backwards for around 10 feet, after the ball has landed. Very few people can do this neatly, and it is a very tough shot.
